<aside> 🫂 Nita Bowerman joined forces with Chimerik 似不像 in 2016. We were very impressed by her unconventional ways of approaching video creation and performances, as someone who had no training background in film, video, or arts technology. From our experience, Nita always finds imaginative and inventive ways to engage with technology in new ways.

Bending rules, finding glitches, multiple layers of creative pipelines, and unconventional processes are what we’re aiming to highlight on this page. We want to empower this element of creative spirit, as technology is here to serve, empower, and inspire our creative process as opposed to us being restricted or dictated by the framework of the technology.

We are very excited to be able to share Nita’s creative process and her DIY technology methods here. Feel free to try out the apps and the methods that she’s generously shared, you may be surprised how powerful result and how simple the process can be!

Whether you're a professional artist or a hobbyist, these apps can open up a world of creativity.

I am a multidisciplinary performance-based artist, mixing the mediums of dance, acting, media art and costume design. My self-created real time performances are often hybrid works mixing live action with digital content. Creation and collaboration credits include performing in live and live digital spaces (including virtual reality), generating visual content for short art videos and live plays, and making wearable art works and costumes. I have worked with various local theatre companies in a variety of capacities and have performed and screened DIY digital video works locally and internationally.

Art is the medium through which I process existing. I consider myself to be an experimenter of form and a designer of content, creating works for stage and screen. I studied theatre at SFU School for the Contemporary Arts.
